Two Florida Players Have Knee Surgery

Florida fullback Terry Jackson underwent surgery to repair a torn knee ligament he suffered during last week’s 55-28 victory over Kentucky. Jackson, the most versatile player for the top-ranked Gators, is out for the remainder of the season after suffering a full tear of an anterior cruciate ligament.

Additionally, defensive tackle Gerard Warren had surgery for cartilage injury in his right knee. Warren, a freshman, was in the Gators’ second rotation of linemen. A team doctor said Warren could return to practice in a month.

South Carolina Coach Brad Scott suspended leading receiver Zola Davis for today’s game against No. 8 Auburn after he was charged with simple assault. Davis had a run-in near campus with Chuck Carter, 25, who told police that Davis’ car nearly struck him as he walked across a street. He said Davis then got out and started arguing and threw him to the pavement. Davis said he pushed Carter down because he felt threatened.
