Markis, Rodriguez Spark Chaminade Victory

Matthew Markis rushed for 242 yards in 27 carries and scored on runs of 56 and seven yards to power Chaminade High over Bishop Montgomery, 41-7, in a Mission League opener Friday night at Chaminade.
The Eagles (2-4) scored 28 unanswered points in the first half.
Quarterback Ray Rodriguez completed four of eight passes for 73 yards and three touchdowns and scored on a seven-yard run. His threw scoring passes of five and nine yards to Chris Canoles in the first half.
Markis’ 56-yard touchdown run midway through the second quarter provided a 28-0 halftime lead.
The Eagles padded their lead 52 seconds into the third quarter when Rodriguez hooked up with Justin Stewart on a 50-yard pass play.
Chaminade, which has outscored opponents, 58-7, in its last two games, gained 432 total yards and held the Knights (0-6) 111 yards.
