Foothill tennis player Joost Hol, a first-team Times’ all-county selection this year, has orally committed to Northwestern. Hol was also considering UCLA, USC and Cal. Hol visited the Evanston, Ill., campus two weeks ago and made up his mind last week.
“I thought they had a really good student athlete program,” Hol said. “I liked the fact that it was a small school, a private school. I’m very excited. It should be pretty cool. It’ll be different. I’ll be playing indoors.”
Northwestern reached the round of 16 at the NCAA championships last year and won the Big 10 championship.
Hol is the second county boys’ tennis player to commit to a Division I school before the fall signing period begins Nov. 11. Hol’s friend, Ryan Moore of Servite, orally committed to USC this month.
