Jobs Expected to Give Decision on Top Job

Apple Computer Inc. co-founder and interim Chief Executive Steven Jobs is expected to tell key advisors Monday his decision on whether he’ll take the top job permanently, analysts said. Jobs, 42, was named interim CEO on Sept. 16 and has led the money-losing computer maker since July, when he helped oust former Chief Executive Gilbert Amelio. About two weeks ago, Jobs, responding to a question asked at a conference in San Francisco, said he planned to go to Hawaii, walk on the beach and think about the permanent job. Jobs, who returns from vacation Monday, may be tempted to take the job permanently, partly because he founded it, in a garage, 21 years ago, analysts said.
