Developers Break Ground on $7-Million Retail Center

Developers of a proposed 40,000-square-foot retail center in Cerritos broke ground Wednesday on the $7-million project just off the 91 Freeway.
Located across from the Cerritos Towne Center--the city’s largest office, retail and entertainment development--the Cerritos Cornerstone project has attracted three anchor stores: Borders Books & Music, Hollywood Video and AirTouch Cellular.
The three-building project by Los Angeles-based developer Real Estate Affiliates is scheduled to open next spring on long-vacant land where dairies and strawberry fields once stood. The city donated one acre on the western portion of the site to allow for additional landscaping.
