SUPER SCREWY

Nicolas Cage is a fine actor (“Just Winging It,” by Kristine McKenna, Aug. 31), but his selection to play Superman is a travesty.
There is, essentially, nothing about Cage that makes him appropriate for this role. He is the wrong physical type, being too short and skinny-legged. And, while he certainly does not have to be a Christopher Reeve clone, his narrow-eyed, slope-jawed visage doesn’t even come close to the “look” of this mythical superhero.
Beyond that, he brings entirely the wrong persona to this character. After a career playing screwballs, deadbeats and psychos, how many people will be able to separate the actor from the icon?
