Food Workers’ Union, Blue Cross Sign Contract

Blue Cross of California, a subsidiary of WellPoint Networks Inc., has been selected to provide managed care services to the United Food and Commercial Workers Union and Food Employers Benefit Fund of Southern California.
Under the contract, effective Sept. 1, more than 80,000 members of the union and their dependents will have access to Blue Cross of California’s provider network, with more than 40,000 health care professionals at 375 facilities throughout the state.
Based in Woodland Hills, WellPoint Health Networks Inc. is one of the nation’s largest publicly traded managed care companies.
