Scot-to-Daguro Touchdown Pass Carries Marina

NEWPORT BEACH — Ryan Daguro’s 25-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter provided all the points Marina would need in the Vikings’ 10-6 victory over Corona del Mar Friday at Newport Harbor High.
Quarterback Austin Scot connected with Daguro with 11 minutes and 46 seconds left in the second quarter, giving Marina (1-0) a 7-0 lead after Peter Dodosh converted the extra point.
Scot finished the game completing seven of 17 passes for 99 yards and one touchdown. Daguro caught three passes for 54 yards.
Dodosh gave Marina its final score with a 38-yard field goal with 5:23 left in the half.
Corona del Mar (0-1) scored on a two-yard run by Nate Lemmerman with 8:04 left in the third quarter. Nick Hood and Dennis Alshuler platooned at quarterback for the Sea Kings. Hood completed 10 of 15 for 77 yards and Alshuler connected on eight of 19 for 77 yards.
