Director Steven Spielberg was treated and released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Tuesday night for injuries he received in a minor car accident, officials said.
Spielberg, 49, who was apparently en route to the premiere of the movie “The Peacemaker,” suffered a sprained shoulder and was unable to attend the event, which marked the first feature film release by his DreamWorks SKG studio.
“He had an X-ray and he’s fine,” said Charlie Lahaie, director of public relations for Cedars-Sinai. “He has a sprained shoulder. No major problem.”
It was announced at the showing that Spielberg would not attend because of the accident. Further details were not available late Tuesday.
DreamWorks was formed about three years ago by former Walt Disney Studios Chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg, music mogul David Geffen and Spielberg, an Oscar-winning director.
