About $400,000 will be given to 26 Orange County service organizations tonight during the 40th annual Disneyland Community Service Awards.
The awards, founded by Walt Disney in 1957, will be presented for the first time in front of Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Paul Pressler, president of the Disneyland Resort, said the anniversary celebration commemorates the theme park’s bond with Orange County and service groups over the last four decades.
The event this year will honor Disneyland electrician Tim Young for his efforts to build awareness and raise money for Childhelp USA and Ronald McDonald House. Young, 46, of Fullerton, has run more than 5,300 miles across the country as part of his effort and will receive the VoluntEAR of the Year award.
