OXNARD — A man was shot several times Wednesday night outside a market near the intersection of Wooley Road and J Street, police said.
The victim was taken by ambulance to St. John’s Regional Medical Center, where he underwent surgery about an hour after the 8:30 p.m. shooting, said Oxnard Police Sgt. Cliff Troy.
The victim’s name, age and address were not immediately available, Troy said.
Three men were spotted leaving the scene in a car. Four detectives were interviewing possible witnesses, Troy said. There were no descriptions of the possible suspects or the getaway car, he said.
The sergeant said it was unclear whether the shooting was gang-related.
