Suicide Attempted in Train Collision

A man attempting suicide suffered only minor abrasions Monday when he drove his car into the path of a Metrolink train near the intersection of Roxford Street and San Fernando Road in Sylmar, police said. The engineer braked in time to avoid major damage to the car. No one on the train was injured in the 2:45 p.m. incident. The driver, whose identity was not released, was taken by police to Olive View-UCLA Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation.
