Firefighters Fit for Duty

* I read the Aug. 2 letter from Joe Kerr, president of the Orange County Professional Firefighters Assn., related to the current fire protection Orange County residents receive from the Orange County Fire Authority.
He stated the paid call firefighters are less trained to handle the job. I strongly disagree, as a 20-year resident of Yorba Linda. The paid call firefighters of Yorba Linda are professional and well-trained. I trust them with my family’s safety.
I believe residents of Orange County would be surprised at how much time is spent by the paid call firefighters on training, often at little or no compensation.
