U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer visited Amgen employees Friday, discussing government’s role in promoting industrial growth.
“The evidence is there, the boom has come to Ventura County,” Boxer said, noting a 2.4% growth in employment and personal income.
She underscored government’s role in securing more housing and educational opportunities for a growing area like Ventura County.
Boxer also trumpeted her support for reform legislation that would streamline Food and Drug Administration approval of drugs manufactured by such companies as Amgen.
“We’re confident it will speed things up for us in the future,” said Gordon Binder, chief executive of the biotechnology company.
