SIMI VALLEY — Two men were arrested and a third person faces deportation after police raided two homes looking for evidence in connection with a drive-by shooting, authorities said Wednesday.
Raymond Romero, 18, and Shawn Hayes, 31, were arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana, police said. Another person, whom police would not identify, was detained by the U.S. Border Patrol on suspicion of being an illegal immigrant.
Along with Tuesday’s arrests, investigators seized a handgun, ammunition, gang paraphernalia and marijuana from residences in the 1300 block of Patricia Avenue and in the 2600 block of Cimmaron Avenue, police said.
The 7 a.m. searches stemmed from a gang-related shooting Jan. 13 in the 300 block of Bonita Drive in Simi Valley. Police would not say whether the gun found Tuesday was used in the drive-by. No one was injured in the shooting.
