Thuram ‘Mel’ Davis; Oxnard Insurance Broker

Thuram “Mel” Davis, an insurance broker from Oxnard, died Monday at St. John’s Regional Medical Center after battling a long illness. He was 76.
Born May 5, 1921, in Salt Lake City, Davis lived in Ventura County for 46 years and started his own brokerage in 1980.
He was a longtime member of the Oxnard Elks Club and a former avid golfer at the Saticoy Country Club. A quiet man, Davis loved humor, philosophy and fine dining.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Austin of Santa Rosa; his son, Russell of Granada Hills; three grandchildren and numerous cousins.
Services will performed by his son at 1 p.m. Friday at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.

Pierce Brothers Griffin Mortuary of Camarillo is in charge of arrangements.
