School of Portables Looking for a Name

A most untraditional school is gearing up for a time-honored custom.
The Santa Ana Unified School District is asking for suggestions on naming its elementary school that will consist almost entirely of portable classrooms and office buildings.
The school on West Santa Ana Boulevard is an inexpensive alternative to traditional schools in the crowded district. The school for 450 students is expected to open in January.
Elementary schools in the district traditionally are named for former presidents or leaders in arts, literature and science who have died.
Suggestions can be sent to the district’s public information office at 1601 E. Chestnut Ave., Santa Ana, 92701.
Suggestions also may be called in to (714) 558-5555.
The deadline is March 20.
