Children Connect With Cable Stations
When children switch on the television, they see programming and don’t distinguish among cable, satellite or broadcast networks, according to a survey conducted by MTV Networks. Nearly a third of children ages 6 to 11 picked cable’s Nickelodeon as their first choice in networks, followed by Fox, Disney Channel and Cartoon Network. Cable and satellite networks will use the survey results in their continuing push to bolster advertising rates, which lag those charged by networks. MTV Networks operates Nickelodeon, MTV and VH1.
