Plans for $5.8-Million Metrolink Station Advance

Saddleback Valley commuters recently caught a glimpse of a long-awaited rail station, as the City Council approved conceptual plans for the $5.8-million train stop.
Located off Forbes Road near Crown Valley Parkway, the station will have two 600-foot-long platforms and parking for 300 vehicles.
Officials say the stop will be more convenient for Metrolink commuters from Mission Viejo, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Hills and parts of Lake Forest who now travel to stations in Irvine or San Juan Capistrano.
Problems arranging access for the site delayed the project, which was originally proposed by Mission Viejo in 1992.
“It’s been a long, strange trip,” Councilman Mark Goodman said.
