Mission Viejo’s Higham Commits to BYU

Sarah Higham, a standout soccer player and pole vaulter at Mission Viejo, has signed a letter of intent to play soccer at BYU, her father, Douglas, said Wednesday.
Higham has helped the Diablos’ second-ranked soccer team to a 16-3-4 record, and is one of the top pole vaulters in the nation, clearing 11-9 in the Southern Section preliminaries last season.

Yvonne Pierson, a halfback for the Edison girls’ soccer team, has signed a letter of intent to attend Pepperdine, her mother, Diane, said. Pierson was voted Sunset League most valuable player this season, Charger Coach Kerry McGrath Crooks said.

The Mission Viejo Vigilantes traded outfielder Sam Taylor to Tri-City (Pasco, Wash.) for infielder Nestor Serrano, left-handed pitcher Chad Rolish and the rights to catcher Bodie Shepherd. Rolish graduated from Servite and pitched for Cal State Fullerton.
