Officials Unveil Plan, Seek Ideas for Park Renovation

City officials will present a preliminary plan for refurbishing Del Rey Lagoon Park and solicit community suggestions for park enhancements at a public meeting tonight.
Ideas for improving the 13-acre beachside park include adding children’s play equipment and a water-play area, and resurfacing basketball courts and parking lots, said Jerry Hastings, a Recreation and Parks Department landscape architect.
Hastings said the department will also examine ways to improve water quality in the lagoon, which makes up 50% of the park.
The meeting, co-sponsored by Councilwoman Ruth Galanter, will be held at 7 p.m. in the Captain’s Room of the La Marina Inn at 119 Culver Blvd.
