A San Diego direct-mail consultant, in his annual review, praised the Lands’ End catalog for its eye-catching layout and witty prose, but panned the Walt Disney Co. catalog for dry copy and mediocre photography. Jim Rosenfield singled out for criticism a shot in the Disney catalog of a blond model with vivid black roots. Winning the “greatest frequency award” was the Victoria’s Secret catalog. Rosenfield said he received six of them during a two-week period.
