United to Renovate 3 Terminals at Airport

With passenger travel increasing at Los Angeles International Airport, United Airlines announced this week that it is spending $200 million to renovate three terminals.
In addition, United will add a 160,000-square-foot cargo facility in front of its cargo center on Century Boulevard, said Peter McDonald, managing director for United Airlines in Los Angeles.
The renovations will take 1 1/2 years.
“Since late 1994, our flights [at the airport] have increased by 58%,” McDonald said, noting that many of those are additional shuttle flights.
The airlines’ shuttle facility in Terminal 8 is already crowded, but will be expanded by 43%. One gate will be added in Terminal 8 for shuttle planes.
In Terminal 7, the airlines will put in new podiums and carpet, expand restrooms and increase seating near the gates. In Terminal 6, United will build a new Red Carpet Club.
