NEW YORK — Ernest Patrikis, the No. 2 official at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, said he tendered his resignation, effective July 29, to join American International Group Inc., the nation’s largest financial services company.
Patrikis, 54, first vice president behind New York Fed President William McDonough, was also an alternate member of the Federal Open Market Committee, the Fed’s policymaking board.
The 30-year veteran of the Fed will join AIG as a special advisor to its chairman, Maurice Greenberg.
Patrikis’ move comes as barriers separating banking from investment and insurance companies are being eased by regulators.
