Starring Role for Small Businesses
Small businesses can get media exposure on Channel 35, a cable television network operated and funded by the city of Los Angeles.
“L.A. in a Day,” one of the programs produced by the city, features local businesses and hot spots. The program appears at least four times a month and is repeated as needed to fill air time. Businesses profiled include San Antonio Winery and El Tepeyac Mexican restaurant.
A city-owned studio is provided free of charge. Small businesses pay only labor costs, said Gary Ghaiey, who oversees the project. The city is involved because increased exposure for businesses can lead to increased sales for business owners and more tax revenue for the city, Ghaiey said.
