Freeway Options Narrowed to Six

Orange County transportation leaders on Monday whittled down to six the number of options they will consider in their campaign to improve the Garden Grove Freeway.
The major east-west corridor, which cuts across Orange County, is the site of growing congestion. Among the solutions being considered are an additional lane in each direction, expanded bus service, a rail system, construction of a major adjacent road to siphon off cars and the construction of carpool lanes.
Those options in assorted combinations and forms were approved Monday by the Orange County Transportation Authority Board of Directors. The board will revisit the issue to refine the project at its Aug. 10 meeting in Santa Ana. Information: (714) 560-6282.
