Applications are being accepted for a nine-month leadership course offered by United Way of Ventura County.
The Ventura County Leadership Academy gives blossoming leaders an opportunity to develop their skills by attending focus sessions each month.
The program will begin Sept. 24 with a three-day course. After that, participants will attend one-day focus classes each month that will address quality of life issues such as agriculture, education and economic development.
In the spring, the class will travel to Sacramento to discuss legislative issues at the state Capitol and tour the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to address water issues.
The application deadline is Monday. For more information, call academy Executive Director Harry Lee at 485-6288, Ext. 260.
