A youth orchestra based in Laguna Niguel will join several county officials today on a trip to the Chinese city of Tianjin, where the young musicians will perform during an international children’s art festival.
The city’s foreign affairs office will pay for the trip, which also includes visits to Beijing, the Great Wall and the Forbidden City.
Supervisor William G. Steiner and Joanne Sokolski, the county’s chief of protocol, will travel with members of the Community Youth Orchestra along with several Orange County businesspeople.
Tianjin is Orange County’s sister city. Last year, Steiner and other officials led a delegation to the city.
