Kung Hangs On to Win Junior Golf Championship

Fountain Valley’s Candie Kung won the Women’s Western Golf Assn. National Junior Championship Friday at Blackhawk Country Club in Madison, Wis.
In the match-play final, Kung made birdies on the 14th and 15th holes to go 3 up on Jimin Kang of Edmonds, Wash. Kang won the next two holes but her bogey on the 18th gave Kung a 2-up victory.

Robert Wiebort has been named softball coach at Trabuco Hills, he said Friday.
Wiebort was named Corona del Mar’s softball coach before last season, but left after the first week of practice because so few players came out for the team. Corona del Mar did not field a varsity team last season.
Wiebort has coached the Outlaws and No Fear travel teams the past five years.
