Goodwill of Panorama City will hold the first meeting Tuesday of its newly created Business Advisory Council to discuss ways to find more jobs for deaf people.
Goodwill offers job-training classes for deaf people, job developer Ivan Strean said. Students are assessed and then taught according to their ability, learning to work with the latest business software.
Strean said representatives from businesses such as Kaiser Permanente, Health Net, Office Team and Warner Bros. are expected to attend Tuesday.
The Los Angeles Department of Disabilities and Cal State Northridge also plan to send representatives, Strean said.
An attorney will discuss and answer questions about the federal Americans With Disabilities Act.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at the Goodwill office, 14565 Lanark St., Panorama City.
