* New York’s Consolidated Edison Inc. agreed to acquire neighboring Orange & Rockland Utilities Inc. for about $790 million. It expects the deal to result in savings of $50 million annually.
* Windmere-Durable Holdings Inc. agreed to buy most of Black & Decker Corp.’s household products group, which makes Toast ‘R Oven and Spacemaker appliances, for $315 million in cash.
