The Dark Side of a Hollywood Ending
Terry Marie Washington was 36 with a long string of aliases and convictions when she met 78-year-old widower Orville Scott of Hollywood in a restaurant.
She offered to drive Scott, a wealthy retired movie technician, to his Hollywood Hills home and stayed on to be his live-in caretaker.
Soon, according to prosecutors, she began drawing down Scott’s large bank and stock accounts. After Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Harned interviewed Scott, in top photo, Harned at right, Washington took Scott in his wheelchair to a wedding chapel in Inglewood and married him, photo below.
Five months later, Scott was dead, largely as a result of starvation, prosecutors said. Charged with murder, Washington pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and forgery and was sentenced in June 1996 to four years in prison.
