Ex-Defense Secretary to Speak on Tuesday

Former Secretary of Defense William J. Perry will talk on “Preventive Defense: An American Security Policy for the 21st Century” on Tuesday at UC Irvine at 7 p.m. in Social Science Lecture Hall 100.
Perry, who served in the Clinton administration from 1994 to 1997, was a leading proponent of reform in the Department of Defense.
He also was known for rebuilding a dialogue between U.S. and Chinese military and security officials.
Since leaving the Clinton administration, Perry has been writing, lecturing and consulting.
He is visiting UCI as the Julius Margolis Lecturer for Global Peace and Conflict Studies.
