Perks Available on Bike to Work Day

Aside from clean air and the chance to get some vigorous exercise, there will be extra perks for Long Beach residents opting to take two-wheeled transport to work on May 21, statewide Bike to Work Day.
Bicyclists who drop by downtown Long Beach’s Bikestation, a center for commuters who use bicycles, or the Marriott Hotel before 9 a.m. will receive a free breakfast, a newspaper and the opportunity to win some prizes.
Several other cities and communities throughout Southern California are offering similar incentives to bicycle commuters on Bike to Work Day, all as part of an effort reduce car traffic and improve air quality.
The California Bicycle Coalition is the primary sponsor of the event, joined by a host of other health, air quality and transit agencies.
