No. 6 Lundquist Seals It for Pepperdine Men

John Lundquist, a last-minute replacement at No. 6 singles for the Pepperdine men’s tennis team, defeated Brandon Fallon of Nevada Las Vegas, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, to clinch a 4-3 victory for the Waves in an NCAA District VII regional semifinal match Friday at Las Vegas.
Pepperdine, ranked No. 9 in the nation, advanced to the regional championship today against New Mexico.
Lundquist replaced Anthony Ross, the regular No. 6 singles player, who pulled a groin muscle earlier in a doubles match.
The Pepperdine women’s team advanced to the West region semifinals with a 5-0 victory over Fresno State on Friday at UNLV.
Thousand Oaks 18, Littlerock 0--No. 1 singles player Phil Sheng and No. 2 player Willie Mullin each swept three sets by 6-0 scores and the Lancers (13-5) won a Division I wild-card playoff match over Littlerock (9-10) at Thousand Oaks.
Sheng, a freshman who turned 15 Friday, was coming off a victory in the Marmonte League singles championships Thursday.
