Police Arrest Man in Restaurant Arson

Police arrested a 38-year-old Simi Valley man Monday) on suspicion of smashing a window at a Carl’s Jr. and trying to set fire to the restaurant.
The incident occurred about 5 a.m., when someone threw a piece of metal through the restaurant’s main window, then tossed some burning paper inside.
The fire caused little damage and was quickly put out by county firefighters who went to the site in the 5700 block of East Los Angeles Avenue, officials said. No one was in the restaurant at the time.
At the scene, Wilbur Schuler turned himself into authorities, Simi Valley police said. Schuler was being held on suspicion of arson at Ventura County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. His arraignment is set for Wednesday. The incident caused $2,500 in damage.
