UC Irvine’s Frack Wins 10,000 Meters at Big West Meet

UC Irvine’s Shawn Frack won the men’s 10,000 meters on the first day of the Big West Conference Track and Field Championships Friday at Bronco Stadium in Boise, Idaho.
Frack won in 31 minutes 35.3 seconds.
The Anteaters’ Pete Kovacs tied for sixth in the pole vault at 15 feet 11 1/4 inches.
The UC Irvine men are in eighth place in the meet that concludes today.
The Anteaters’ Christie Engesser posted the top qualifying time in the women’s 800-meter preliminaries at 2:12.08. Engesser ran the third-fastest time in Anteater history, 2:07.19, at the USC Distance Festival last week.
The Anteaters’ Florence Sterni qualified for the finals in the 100 (12.12) and the 200. (24.6).
The Anteaters’ Khara Covington finished fourth in the long jump at 18-3 1/4.
The UC Irvine women are in sixth place.
