Police were searching Thursday for a hit-and-run driver who ran away after a collision that claimed the life of a 75-year-old Glendora woman and injured two other people.
Mary Malone was a passenger in a car driven by her 48-year-old son, Kirk Malone. The car was eastbound on Mission Boulevard shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday when the fatal collision occurred, police said.
The vehicle was struck by a car that was turning left onto Buena Vista Street from the westbound Mission Boulevard, Lt. Gary Graham said.
The Malones and a third passenger in their car were rushed to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, where Mary Malone was pronounced dead, authorities said.
The driver of the second car ran away with a young girl, leaving his yellow 1979 Pontiac Firebird behind, police said.
Kirk Malone was treated and released from the hospital. The third passenger, a woman in her late 70s, remained at the hospital for observation, authorities said. Her identity was not released.
