LOS ANGELES — Police arrested a 20-year-old suspect Wednesday in the slaying of Ralonzo Phelectron Cochran, the brother of attorney Johnnie L. Cochran Jr.
Based on information provided by an anonymous tipster, police arrested Norril Stephenson after he was spotted in a car near 47th Street and Normandie Avenue, police said.
The body of Cochran, 43, was found early Nov. 1 in a residential area in the 2600 block of South Manhattan Place, about five blocks from where he lived, police said.
Cochran, who was known by his friends as “Phlecky,” was shot several times, police said.
Police arrested Stephenson on suspicion of a probation violation and took him into custody for questioning.
Sources close to the case said Ralonzo Cochran had led a sometimes troubled life that included problems with drugs. But police declined to speculate on a motive for the murder.
