Offramp Closure Plan to Be Discussed
Los Angeles City Councilwoman Cindy Miscikowski will host a community meeting Thursday night to consider a Caltrans plan to close an offramp of the Ventura Freeway for a six-month trial period.
The exit, at Haskell Avenue on the westbound side of the freeway, has been flagged as a potentially dangerous offramp because it requires motorists to weave across three lanes of traffic in a relatively short distance.
Miscikowski has also heard complaints from nearby residents that cars leaving the freeway go through their neighborhoods at risky speeds.
Caltrans is considering closing the offramp for six months, beginning at the end of the year, to determine whether it would improve safety. Miscikowski said Caltrans officials will consider community input when deciding whether to move ahead with the trial closure.
A public meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Encino Community Center, 4935 Balboa Blvd.
