Lorraine Ali concludes her review of George Michael’s video “Outside” (Sound & Vision, Nov. 22) with the sentence, “Ending the video with a kiss between two policemen, the singer not only makes fun of himself, but also jabs at the powers-that-be for trying to quash something that’s ‘human nature.’ ”
While masturbation may be human nature, doing it in a public restroom in full view of another person is not. It’s obvious that Michael learned nothing from his conviction on this issue. Who knows, the video may count as time devoted to public service. The fact is he got off easy and now mocks the social system by making ridiculous social statements.
Also, where does the critic come off reviewing the unedited version rather than the one we peons will see?
