Mary Star 33, St. Genevieve 0--Ambrose Russo rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns in only four carries for the Stars (2-4, 1-2) at Birmingham High.
The Stars scored on their first two possessions, which culminated with touchdown runs of 22 yards by Patrick Allen and 11 yards by Michael DiLeva.
Russo scored on runs of 73 yards late in the first quarter and 32 yards early in the third quarter.
The Valiants (0-6, 0-3) had their best scoring opportunity go astray early in the fourth quarter when they drove 70 yards, only to have quarterback Mike Pisano’s pass intercepted by Frank DiMato and returned 95 yards for a touchdown.
Pisano completed seven of 17 for 91 yards with two interceptions, and Edward Jaime caught three passes for 43 yards for St. Genevieve.
Both teams committed four turnovers.
James Navarrete recovered two fumbles for St. Genevieve.
