Did Lavin Get Reward for Being Roll Model?

Let’s see: UCLA Coach Steve Lavin gets a $100,000 raise in a six-year package, with a “rollover” clause, while essentially having his lads unprepared to play a less-talented Detroit Mercy squad in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
While Athletic Director Pete Dalis is at it, why not throw in another $100,000 to not qualify for the tournament at all, thus sparing Bruin fans the discomfort of watching superior talent “roll over” again and again?
