Services Set for 5 Victims of Freeway Car Accident

Funeral services will be held this week for the five Antelope Valley-area victims of last week’s car accident near Agua Dulce.
Visitation will be held for Jovannie Solano, 20, from 3 to 9 p.m. today and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of the Valley Mortuary in Palmdale. A Mass of the Resurrection will be said for Solano at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Palmdale, followed by burial at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, also in Palmdale.
A vigil will be held for Vanessa Yusi, 17, from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church, where a Mass will be said for her at 10 a.m. Thursday, followed by burial at Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Newhall.
Visitation for Shaun Perez, 20, will also be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s, where a Mass will be said for him at 10 a.m. Friday, with burial to follow at Joshua Memorial Park in Lancaster.
Mass will be said for John Batas, 18, at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church in Cypress, followed by burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery, also in Cypress.
Visitation for John Chu, 25, will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Joshua Memorial Park in Lancaster. A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at Lancaster First Assembly of God.
All five died after the car they were in, driven by Yusi, skidded off the freeway and down a steep embankment. Witnesses said the car was speeding and racing with three other cars, according to the California Highway Patrol.
