Citigroup Likely to Post Strong Earnings

Among the major companies reporting quarterly earnings this week, Citigroup Inc., the world’s largest financial-services company, may report first-quarter results of at least $2 billion, exceeding analysts’ published estimates. A year after Citicorp Chairman John Reed and Travelers Group Inc. Chairman Sanford Weill agreed to unite their banking and insurance companies, Citigroup will probably make more money than General Electric Co., Microsoft Corp. and General Motors Corp., as well as any other financial-services company worldwide.
