Sons of Norway Edvard Grieg Lodge No. 74 will hold its biannual Heritage Fair today. Visitors will be treated to Norwegian delicacies and demonstrations of handarbeid,--handcrafts,--and a bunad, a fashion show featuring Norwegian costumes.
A mini-museum will display family heritage items and genealogical information will be available. Vendors will sell imported Scandinavian jewelry, books, cards and prints.
The Sons of Norway is a nonprofit organization for people of Norwegian heritage and others interested in Norway and its culture.
The group’s 200 members live in more than 54 cities throughout California, including Glendale, Burbank and Northridge. Membership extends as far as Hawaii and, of course, Norway, according to member De Nora Clinton.
Today’s festivities begin at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Hall, 4011 La Crescenta Ave., La Crescenta.
A $2.50 admission charge will benefit the group’s philanthropic efforts, including scholarships to Glendale Community College. There is no charge for children younger than 12 accompanied by parents.
