Valencia Loses Ground Before the Game Starts

The fact that Valencia High is winless in two games at College of the Canyons this season is not the reason Coach Brian Stiman is upset the Vikings are being forced to play there Saturday night.
Valencia (9-3) was set to host Saugus (10-2) in a Division III semifinal at its home site, Canyon High, Saturday when the William S. Hart Unified School District on Monday moved the game to College of the Canyons.
Incidentally, College of the Canyons is Saugus’ home field.
“I think it’s unfair to the [Valencia] kids,” Stiman said. “Do they deserve the right to play on their home field? Absolutely. They’ve worked awfully hard to get to this game.”
The school district forced Valencia to change the site to accommodate a large crowd and Fox Sports West 2, which will televise the game.
Valencia has lost to Hart and Saugus at College of the Canyons, but Stiman is optimistic.
“The way I look at it, you can’t lose there forever,” Stiman said.
