Chaffey 30, Canyons 14--After watching his team get beaten and battered in the Southern California Bowl, Canyons Coach Chuck Lyon couldn’t ignore what was painfully obvious.
“We were just over our heads today, to tell you the truth,” Lyon said.
Canyons quarterback Chris Kobe, suffering from flu, struggled. He completed 17 of 39 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown with three interceptions. Kobe also lost two fumbles.
The Cougars (7-4) trailed, 10-7, at the half but the Panthers (8-3) scored 20 consecutive points.
Chaffey finished with 333 yards, 210 on the ground. Dameon Hunter had 127 yards in 28 carries.
Canyons was held to 274 yards. Jason D’Autremont had four catches for 67 yards and a touchdown.
