The Las Vegas area gets another luxury off-Strip hotel Dec. 17, when Hyatt is to open its first resort in the area. The Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas, 17 miles south of the Strip in Henderson, Nev., sprawls over 21 lakefront acres, with 496 rooms, two swimming pools, spa, casino, two restaurants and several lounges and bars.
Guests have access to the Jack Nicklaus-designed par-72 Reflection Bay Golf Club and sailing, fishing and other activities on Lake Las Vegas. Room rates begin at $175 per night; starting in April, they increase to $245. Reservations: tel. (800) 554-9288.
In another off-Strip addition, the Resort at Summerlin, northwest of Las Vegas, last week opened its 40,000-square-foot spa, with a dizzying array of treatments, including hydrotherapy, a “negative ionization room,” “cryotonic cool leg therapy” and the “Italian Michelangelo Viso Facial.” Prices range from about $20 to $225. The spa also offers yoga, fitness classes and off-site rock-climbing and hiking trips. Tel. (877) 869-5777.
