A newly appointed task force will begin looking into the best designs for an auditorium at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center.
The city has received a $201,952 Community Development Block Grant from the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development to design the multipurpose auditorium. It has always been considered the second phase of the center, which opened in December 1988. It was included in the original plan, but the city has been waiting for funding.
The 10,000-square-foot hall will be used for several functions and will have a stage with accompanying dressing rooms and a full kitchen.
